The following are examples of the effective use of Vibro-Pulse®
for the treatment of Venous Ulcers:

Case Study 1 : Miss D, 84 year old
female.
An 84 year old female patient Miss D has a history
of recurrent venous ulceration and has impaired mobility
due to arthritis in her hips. Compression hosiery
had proved a problem in the past, weekly 4 layer bandaging
or tubigrips were advised. 6 months later her ulcer
had recurred on her right lateral gaiter and Tensopress
compression bandaging was commenced.
On commencing of the Vibro-Pulse®
therapy the Venous ulcer size was 7 cm sq and had
been present for 6 weeks.
With Setopress bandaging, Vibro-Pulse®
was used 3 times a day for 30 minutes at home by the
patient. This led to the Ulcer forming a scab at 4
weeks.
Quality of life assessments showed that her pain
level reduced from 2 - 0.5 by week 3 (scale 1-5).
Exudate reduced from moderate to none by week 3. Healing
was determined when the scab resolved at week 6.
Miss D commented that not only had her pain
reduced but she had not experienced any pain at night
since starting the treatment and that her mobility
had also improved.

Case Study 2 : Mrs W, 83 year old
female.
Mrs W has a long history of bilateral venous ulceration.
A 28.75cm sq superficial ulceration on the left medial
gaiter had been present for 4 years.
Prior to commencing Vibro-Pulse® she
had required daily dressings for exudate control with
an alginate and Setopress compression. Pain at night
had proved a problem with a pain level score of 4
(scale 1-5).
The skin was extremely fragile with Pustular Dermatosis
for which Trimovate was prescribed. Patch testing
had shown allergies to lanolin, hydrocortisone, colophony
and parabens.
Mrs W managed the Vibro-Pulse® treatment
at home and dressings were reduced to three times
per week with a non-adherent primary dressing pad,
Soffban and Setopress.
By week 4 her pain level had reduced to level 1,
with improvement in mobility. Exudate was more manageable
and the ulcer and oedema were reducing.
At the end of 12 weeks the ulcer had reduced
by 65% to 10cm sq.

An 8cm sq. ulcer on his left medial gaiter had been
present for 6 months and had been treated with compression
bandaging prior to using Vibro-Pulse.
The stasis eczema had been treated with Trimovate,
reduced to Betnovate RD. Hyperkeratotic skin on and
around the ulcer proved a problem with occasional
breakdown of small open areas of skin.
Mr P managed the Vibro-Pulse treatment at home for
three times a day for half an hour and was used in
conjunction with the same compression bandaging used
prior to Vibro-Pulse use.
After 9 weeks of use the ulcer had reduced
in size by 78% and subsequently healed at 14 weeks
